My Attachment Style Can Cause Health Problems?

My attachment style can cause health problems? Yes, according to research studies.  The findings revealed that insecure attachment style can cause increased hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis reactions  in infants and toddlers during challenging emotional situations. This is particularly true when children have the Disorganized Attachment Style, one that has a high correlation with adrenal stress caused by early childhood/developmental trauma.

Chronic relational trauma between children and their mothers during a child’s first year can cause an Adrenal Stress Response (ASR) that activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. If this chronic relational stress continues through early childhood, children begin to exhibit symptoms of adrenal fatigue. The most common ASR symptoms children show are attention problems, including hyperactivity. They simply cannot relax or rest, but go until they are exhausted. These early experiences lay the foundation for adrenal fatigue and eventual exhaustion.
