Our Websites
Barry & Janae Weinhold (Weinholds.org)
This is our flagship website–a repository of our many years of collaborative work as professional partners in the field of developmental psychology. Here you’ll find many posts and articles on a wide array of topics that are built around a “journey” theme, including our own story. It also has a complete listing of the many books that we’ve written, information about the services we offer, upcoming events, and an overview of our developmental model.
The Colorado Institute for Conflict Resolution & Creative Leadership (cicrcl.org)
The Colorado Institute for Conflict Resolution & Creative Leadership (CICRCL) is a nonprofit tax-exempt corporation that we created as the result of our experiences related to the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. This experience, exacerbated by unresolved conflict between the USSR and the West, was the catalyst to found CICRCL in an effort to be “part of the solution” rather than “part of the problem.”
CICRCL’s mission is “Providing evolutionary resources for shifting consciousness” through our three-part developmental model:
- Developmental Systems Theory
- LOVEvolution
- Heart Field Therapy
Much of the research on our model has come through cross-cultural projects, particularly those involving humanitarian work in Ukraine. This has become an important part of CICRCL’s mission, and a focus of future collaborative projects.

The Colorado Professional Development Center (CoProfDevCenter.org)
The Colorado Professional Development Center (CPDC) offers Trauma-Informed Care Practitioner Certificate Training and supervision/consultation services for mental health professionals. It also supports other professionals actively working with individual, couple, and family clients.
CPDC’s Trauma-Informed Care Certificate training program for professionals is based on an attachment model of psychotherapy and the growing acceptance of early bonding experiences as the foundation for adult psychological wellbeing. CPDC programs emphasize the attuned therapist as the critical factor in the effective practice of psychotherapy. This makes its program offerings unique, particularly in supporting the ongoing professional development of mental health practitioners.
CPDC’s professional training program stresses the common elements of teaching, learning and counseling. They are constructivistic in nature, and recognize that participants are actively constructing personal meaning, beliefs and values during their learning/counseling experiences.
Our Partners
Kiev Gestalt University
KGU’s Mission: We make the world better by educating professionals who help improve the quality of life of their clients by broadcasting humanistic values and environmental attitudes towards themselves, other people and the world.
Janae Weinhold and Inna Didkovska first met in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1995 during a two-week introductory training for psychotherapists. This training was jointly sponsored by the Colorado Institute for Conflict Resolution & Creative Leadership (CICRCL) and ROZRADA. Inna was part of a group of 15 young Ukrainian professionals who participated in this training. Inna worked as psychotherapist at ROZRADA for more than five years, then went on to Found and Direct Kiev Gestalt University (KGU), which now has 300+ students.
KGY is one of the first private educational institutions in Eastern Europe to focus on Gestalt therapy. KGU is the only institution that has received accreditation from the European Association of Gestalt Therapy (EAGT) and the European Association of Psychotherapy (EAP). This means that our training program fully meets all the requirements for the duration and content of the curriculum, put forward by the EAGT and the EAP.
Gestalt psychology, which is rooted in humanistic psychology and psychotherapy, is a school of thought that looks at the human mind and behavior as a whole. It has played a major role in the modern development of the study of human sensation and perception. As Director of KGU, Inna Didkovska’s work has focused on integrating the Western principles and practices of traditional Gestalt psychology and psychotherapy into the more Eastern culture of Ukraine. She, her staff and students have integrated many components of Weinholds’ Developmental Model into their curriculum and psychotherapy practices.
Collaborative Projects Between CICRCL and KGU
CICRCL and KGU have been collaborating since 2016, when Inna came to Colorado and she and Janae co-led their first seminar, The Search for the Divine Feminine. Since then, KGY has organized several seminars about parts of our Developmental Model for Ukrainian psychotherapists. In September of 2018 the two organizations signed an official International Agreement of Cooperation to:
- Develop joint venture projects.
- Organize joint psychological and educational activities, such as courses, conferences, seminars, lectures & symposia.
- Exchange staff, students and/or faculty.
- Exchange of materials, including books, pamphlets, training materials, and multimedia resources.
ROZRADA International Humanitarian Center – Kiev, Ukraine
ROZRADA is a humanitarian NGO in Ukraine that provides social and psychological consultation services to individuals, couples, families, organizations groups and government agencies.
The International Humanitarian Center ROZRADA was founded in 1994 through the common efforts of Ukrainian psychologist Valentina Bondarovskaia, Ph.D. and American psychologist Janae Weinhold, Ph.D., Co-Director of CICRCL. The two colleagues and friends who were guided by ideas of altruism, love, and the desire to help those who are in need–initially, it was the survivors of the Chernobyl Disaster in 1986.
History of ROZRADA’s Founding
Janae and Valentina met in August of 1990 during Barry and Janae’s trip to the USSR with a group of American “citizen diplomats.” This family-stay trip began in what was then Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), then took them to Moscow and on to Kiev for a week on a riverboat traveling down the Dnieper River to the Black Sea. During this weeklong journey of about 200 Ukrainians and 30 Americans, Janae and Valentina became friends and colleagues. Their first joint effort was facilitating discussion groups for the women aboard the ship where they shared about themselves and their lives.
A big part of these discussions involved the impact of the Chernobyl disaster on their lives and their families. Barry and Janae felt a great deal in common with the people of Ukraine, as they were living in Zurich, Switzerland at the time of the disaster and experienced this catastrophe first-hand. During the many hours of discussion and sharing, Valentina explained her great frustration and sadness about the need for practical psychological tools to help the traumatized Chernobyl survivors.
Janae and Valentina’s discussions and growing friendship on this life-altering trip formed the foundation for what has grown into a deep personal and profound professional relationship. Janae and Barry hosted Valentina for a one-month visit in the winter of 1991, and provided her with training in practical psychology through CICRCL and through the Counseling and Human Services Program at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
Then CICRCL sponsored two exchange trips, one taking a group of Americans to Kiev and another bringing a group of Ukrainians to Colorado Springs. These two trips focused primarily on providing humanitarian aid and crisis counseling to Chernobyl survivors. Janae also made several trips to Kiev in 1991 and 1992 to support this effort.
In 1994 Janae and Valentina signed documents with the Colorado Secretary of State legally linking CICRCL and ROZRADA as collaborating NGOs. Janae then met Valentina and ROZRADA’s staff of eight in Bratislava, Slovakia, for 10 days of intensive training in practical psychology. Janae has returned periodically to Kiev to provide ongoing consultation, training, supervision and personal coaching for ROZRADA’s staff and clients.
Collaborative Projects Between CICRCL and ROZRADA
Over the past 28 years, Janae has offered numerous trainings through CICRCL and ROZRADA in codependency, counterdependency, conflict resolution, developmental systems theory, developmental process work, healing developmental trauma, domestic violence and couples counseling. She finds Valentina and her Ukrainian students to be outstanding collaborators in refining the cross-cultural aspects of the work she and Barry do together. In 1997, ROZRADA translated and published the Russian edition of Breaking Free of the Codependency Trap. In 2009 ROZRADA translated and published the Russian edition of Counter-dependency: The Flight From Intimacy. Both books are now being released in updated 2nd Editions to meet the growing demand of Russian speaking people for our books.
